Bee Loved Temple 2017
Bee Loved Temple is an awe-inspiring 30-foot wooden structure build for the 2017 regional Freezer Burn that draws inspiration from the elegance and harmony of a beehive. Designed as a sanctuary for connection, reflection, and renewal, the temple embodies themes of love, community, and balance.
Crafted from interlocking wooden beams arranged in a circular design, the structure symbolizes the mutual support and cooperation found in both nature and human relationships. Each beam leans on the others, representing the interconnected strength of community. Effigies of bees adorn the exterior, celebrating their essential role as pollinators and icons of harmony in the natural world.
Inside the temple, hexagonal cocoons are stacked along the walls, echoing the cells of a hive. These spaces invite visitors to rest, reflect, and find peace. At the heart of the temple towers a column of hexagons crowned with crystals, which catch and refract light during the day and glow softly at night, creating an enchanting and luminous centrepiece.
The trusses outside the temple are adorned with symbolic representations of the elements—earth, fire, wind, and water—reminding participants of the delicate balance that sustains life. A melodic wind chime adds a soothing auditory experience, singing gently in the breeze and enhancing the atmosphere of calm.
