Introduction to the New Project
I’m thrilled to share what I’ve been working on—a collaborative effort with a talented crew of skilled craftsmen and artists to create an inspiring new installation.
Building on the well-received success of the Bye Bye Steely T ferwell event, this project takes artistic expression and craftsmanship to new heights.
Here are some initial sketches, drawings, and photos of the work in progress. Stay tuned to see the final creation come to life!
The installation features a majestic tortoise at its base, its shell composed of stunning concrete tiles embedded with glass aggregates and fiber optics that glow softly at night. The tortoise’s head is rendered in bas-relief copper, while its body incorporates recycled tires and rubber, symbolizing resilience and the importance of sustainability.
Above the tortoise, a globe emerges—a striking combination of industrial steel and organic wood structures that represent a disrupted technological world. During the day, light filters through small holes in the metal globe, creating a celestial pattern that mirrors the stars at night.
Atop the globe stands a graceful doe, a symbol of gentleness and wisdom, with an owl perched above her as a beacon of knowledge. Delicate butterflies hover around the scene, adding an ethereal quality. Both the globe and the figures of the doe and owl spin independently, introducing dynamic movement that enhances the installation’s immersive experience.
The structure beautifully contrasts solid, heavy elements with light, delicate ones, drawing the eye upwards and creating vertical visibility. By day, polished concrete, gleaming metal, and the gentle motion of the butterflies engage tactile and visual senses, while at night, glowing fiber optics and starlike patterns transform the piece into a beacon of wonder.
This project is a testament to the power of collaboration, imagination, and craftsmanship. I can’t wait to share more as it comes together—stay tuned!
